Houghton's Christ-centered Communication program equips you with the interpersonal, professional, and creative skills necessary to create and present meaningful, clear, and concise messages that can spark change.

Through Houghtonโ€™s degree in Communication, you will you will master the use of language and images to create effective messages as you:

  • Develop your interpersonal, intercultural, organizational, and design skills as you experience a wide variety of communication theories, styles, and practices.
  • Put your skills into practice with courses that specialize in areas such as public speaking, advertising, digital video, animation, and graphic design.
  • Take part in internships that meet professional standards of work in a variety of different areas.

Study interpersonal communication and how it applies in the context of friendships and families. Learn skills such as relational awareness, person perception, verbal and nonverbal communication, relational development and gender communication.

ART 283 Introduction to Digital Photography

This course introduces the fundamentals of digital photography, including camera operation and
file management. You'll explore photography as a visual language through personal expression, principles of composition, and the mediumโ€™s contemporary history. Class format includes discussions, demonstrations, critiques, lectures, and student presentations.

COMM 304 Social Media Marketing

In this course, you'll study the social interactions and habits of consumers. Explore the various social media channels available to marketers and learn to build social marketing strategies as well as track their effectiveness.
