Caring For One Another

Resident Assistants Build a Better Community

At Houghton University, there is a Resident Assistant (RA) for each floor or area in the residences. RAs are upper-class students and are pivotal in helping to create intentional, Christ-centered living and learning environments. They ensure your experience living on campus is positive, safe, fun and life-changing.

RAs build community by:

  • putting on building events like dinners, birthday parties, or capture the flag on the quad
  • upholding Student Life policies and ensuring the safety of our residences
  • mediating roommate conflicts
  • planning programs that encourage growth, development and learning
  • reporting maintenance needs.
  • providing a listening ear or helping students find support through campus resources
